Curried egg sandwich

Image
I definitely need a better camera. But it is SO easy just to click upload on my camera phone. Sigh. So today, I decided to try something new (shocking). My method of putting random stuff together and it accidentally tasting delicious has worked for me a lot of times, so why not, right? Well today, I felt like it was a sandwich kind of day. Going along with the theme of making your kitchen reek, I decided to make curried egg sandwich. WARNING: Before you buy your eggs, be aware of the current egg recall that is going on. Prep time: 5 min Cook time: 5 min Approx Calories: 250 Ingredients: 2 slices of bread (wheat to add healthy to it) 3-4 slices of cucumber 2-3 slices of tomato Onion 2 egg whites 1/2 tbsp olive oil 1/4 tsp curry powder Pinch of salt Spread of some sort (I added a special kind I bought from Hy-Vee called Kohinoor Chutney Spread) 1/2 tsp minced garlic Directions: Curried Egg Heat the olive oil in a saucepan. Then add the egg whites. Add curry powder and pinch of salt ev...

That Was Dessert; This is the Main Course: Thai Curry Pasta

I think one of the best things to happen in modern times is the globalization of the world. This has enabled us to learn so much about cultures around the world, and be connected. I love the concept of cultural diffusion, so I try to mix and match dishes occasionally. Here, the traditional Thai curry mingles with Italian pasta. I do think, however, that linguine would serve better than bow-tie pasta. Serves: 2 Prep Time: 10 min* Cook Time: 20 min Approx Calories: 560 without the pasta (varies with pasta) * I say 10 min bc marinating takes the longest. Otherwise, the prep is pretty straightforward and easy. Ingredients: To marinate chicken: 2 Cut Chicken breasts 1/2 cup tomato paste 1/4 cup basil Salt according to taste For the dish: 1 tbsp olive oil 1/2 cup mushrooms 1/2 cup onions 1/2 tsp garlic 1/2 cup green peppers 2 cups coconut milk 1 tbsp curry powder 1 tsp fish sauce Pasta of choice. Linguine would be my next trial, because although bow-tie was delicious, it would probabl...

Introduction

At the beginning of summer, I didn't know the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon. Well, I knew that they were different, but I didn't quite grasp what difference it would make during cooking. When I would make my South Asian dishes, it didn't seem to matter. But when my Cashew Chicken turned out to be saltier than the Pacific ocean, I realized it was time to make some changes to cooking styles. As the summer passed, I tried new recipes and a lot of them turned out to be pretty good, and some turned out to be disastrous. Here, I will try to chronicle my cooking adventures.
